CCO Ministry Supervisor

Ministers need people they can trust.

The Numbers

As a ministry supervisor, I oversee 5 staff on 4 campuses in 3 contexts in 2 states with 1 mission of supporting my staff. My mission is to support my staff and their ministry/church partner so they are thriving and have a vibrant ministry sharing Jesus Christ with college students and teaching them to walk with Him.

I serve 2 contexts in North Carolina and 1 context in Virginia.

CCO Growing National

The CCO was founded by churches is Pittsburgh, PA wanting to reach college students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Most Campus Ministers are partnered with a church (occasionally another ministry organization) and do outreach on a local college campus or two. Historically, the CCO has primarily served the greater Pennsylvania region. Since 2016 or so, the CCO has been growing into new regions as far south as Florida and west as California.

As we grow organizationally, we’ve had to grow and adapt how supervision and support is handled. The CCO is still located in Pittsburgh but there is leadership in each region that helps support the ministry contexts (Campus Minister, Church/Partner, Campus) in that region. For the CCO South region, there is an Area Director and then two Ministry Supervisors that supervise several contexts in the region.

I serve as one of the Ministry Supervisor is the CCO South.

North Carolina

I serve staff in Greensboro, NC who partner with Church of the Redeemer (Anglican) doing outreach at Guilford College.

I also serve staff at a newer partnership with North Carolina Study Center at UNC Chapel Hill.

We gathered as a region in January for encouragement, prayer, planning, and support. It was a rich time together and we look forward to our next gathering.

Virginia

My 3 Virginia staff all partner with the same church, Redeemer Anglican but do outreach on 2 different campuses. They are at University of Richmond (UofR) and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

Two of them were hired in 2022/23 school year so I’m excited to support them as they start their new school year.

“Thank you for your advocacy and support as my supervisor - I am more grateful than you know.”

The Nitty Gritty

I have a check in call at least monthly with each of my staff to support and encourage them, update them on any CCO happenings, hear how their ministry is going, lament and celebrate with them, and pray for them. Monthly we also have CCO South area Zoom calls with all staff in the region which I help to lead.

Quarterly I check-in with the Ministry Partners my staff partner with to hear how the ministry is going from their perspective and maintain a good strong relationship with them.

Occasionally I travel to their locations and get to meet students int heir ministry, visit their church, and attend their ministry events. It is always so fun to meet in person and see/celebrate their ministry.

The ultimate hope is that my staff thrive, churches connect with college students, and students are growing in their faith or meeting Jesus for the first time!
